Samsung is actively working on the idea of folded displays. It is rumored that the company is developing a foldable tablet as big as iPad Pro and Galaxy Fold’s follower with 8-inch display. In the meantime, it has also patented the new and pretty interesting type of such devices.

LetsGoSignal has found the latest company’s patent for a device with so-called “multi-plane” display. It goes from the front, curves the top and folds about 75% of the rear.

There are many possible places for the cameras according to this patent. Seems that Samsung is not sure where to put them right now, and so the patent offers almost every reasonable position. For instance, one option copies the Galaxy S10 sensors.

It goes without saying that the top boundary is the most exciting part of the new device. According to Samsung, it may be used for app notifications and system info. Also, air gestures are covered by the patent. Similar to what is implemented in LG G8, Samsung suggests you send requests to the rear part of the display while waving your hand over the device and thus change the content on the display.

Folded displays are the new black today. They open such intriguing opportunities, and Samsung just can’t stand aside. While first devices with the doubled screen are already presented on the market (Vivo NEX), Samsung’s novelties promise to bring this concept to the qualitatively new level.
